Statewide School Closure through April 28

March 17, 2020

Dear Santiam Community,

As you may have already heard, this afternoon, Governor Kate Brown issued an Executive Order extending the closure of all Oregon public schools through April 28th.

This action is intended to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to protect Oregonians at the highest risk of contracting the disease, the Governor said in her Order. This effort does come at an expense. Much of our daily routines are now disrupted, and education is no exception. In an attempt to minimize this, we will pulling together materials and resources for Santiam Canyon families to ease this burden and continue to support our wonderful kids.

Governor Brown’s order will ensure that schools continue to receive funding during this closure so that employees will not be laid off and vital services, including meals for students, can continue. We will continue our daily route of lunches and breakfasts free for all kids.

We are asking all Santiam Canyon families with students in our schools please take the following survey, so we can better serve your educational needs during this closure. The link to the survey is below:

We are all navigating this new experience together, but please know we are doing our best to support our broader community and students as this situation evolves.

Sincerely,

Todd Miller, Superintendent
