Graduation 2020… this Saturday!

June 9, 2020

Greetings Santiam Community,

We met again last night with the Harvest Festival Board Members. We are so grateful to them allowing us to use their grounds and for building a stage for our graduates. It has been amazing watching a community come together to make the best possible gradation happen for our students.

Livestream-

We will be livestreaming the graduation ceremony online for those unable to be in attendance. Feel free to share this link with friends and family. The link is:

Parking-

We will open the gates at 11:30 am for cars to begin to arrive. Graduates have two different colors of tickets. The “Red” ticket that has their name written on it is specifically for the graduate. They will be in a car that is front and center in the first two rows (they get the best view, sorry). Of course, they can have whoever they want in that car with them. Each graduate also received their requested amount of “Gray” tickets. Gray tickets are for cars with all other family and friends, and community members.

We will be directing cars to different areas of the parking lot based on size of car. If the vehicle is a van, SUV, or truck, once you enter the stadium you will be directed to the left side of the two entrance aisles. To be mindful of obstructed views, we will direct vans, SUVs, and trucks to be parked in the back. Sedans will be directed to the right side of the two entrance aisles and will be parked starting in the front.

We need to require that you stay in your car during the duration of the ceremony inorder to maintain our requirement to have no more than 24 people out of vehicles at any given time, per ODE and the Governor’s executive order.

Per ODE regulations, if windows are rolled down, cars must be parked at least 6 ft. apart. Because of this, and in effort to not block views, we will be staggering cars as they are parking. Volunteer parking attendants will direct you in this.

Weather-

We will have both an outdoor sound system and FM system available to listen from your car with. Please be cautious if listening through the FM radio to not drain your battery.

Restrooms-

We will have porta-potties available on site. However, we do need to be cautious on the number of people out of their cars at any given time. We will be asking that you not leave your car to use the restroom specifically during the Awarding of the Diplomas section of the ceremony.

ODE Guidance-

  • If you are sick or have a family member sick with symptoms resembling the flu or

coronavirus, please stay home.

  • Vulnerable people, such as those with underlying conditions and older adults,

should stay home.

  • Maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet during any gathering.
  • We will have facemasks available for graduates.
